Threat to the movement

Its been over a month, and the Occupy Wall Street Movement still stands. It faces many forms of oppostion, though; arrests, fighting, ridicule, contempt, and as always, apathy. Ignorance is also fuel for this fire, in many ways. It could be the singularly most challenging factor to the movement and the reasons we stand behind it. But I would go even farther and quote an old assertion, “We have met the enemy, and he is us.” All of us.

In Defense of Occupy Wall Street

Decisions are being made in America tonight. Some people are choosing to be assertive about their rights, whether they are giving words of support, marching with protesters, or using their right to free speech to debate the legitimacy of the Occupy Wall Street movement. Others are choosing to be assertive about their opinions of the protests by impeding conversations or making statements backed by inflated emotions (for or against).Yet most Americans still reside on the sidelines, either from uncertainty about the reason for the protests, questions about the legitimacy of protester's arguments, or disinterest/ lack of knowledge about the entire issue. Wherever you stand, it is important for all Americans to recognize a few things about the reasons for a movement and its importance in America's future.

Some history for thought

As protesters come together to fight for the future, many also come together to help one other understand the reasons we have to fight. Many know at least some of the laws that are behind our economic woes and other problems, some others also understand the very large system that is behind all of this. However, one question that is not being asked (but is important to answer when people might try to defend this broken system) is how did this all begin?

Mark it on your calender...

October 15th is the day for a lot of planned protests to take to the streets, occupy other areas, and communicate with people all over the world viral.

Here is a link to find what is planned in your area, or to get something together: http://15october.net/

Is there a need for political spectrum in the O.W.S movement?

In many of the mass media channels, there has been some suggestions and insinuations that this movement is predominantly left-leaning. Within the movement, there have been concerns expressed about it turning into a leftist tea party. While there has been significant resistance to the formation of any political party from within, people not as familiar with the movement might view it as left leaning.

Facts for Occupy Wall Street

The Occupy Wall Street movement has come under some criticism for being pointless or short-sided. While some individuals might not understand every economic fact or be able to completely to explain economic trends, there is a great deal of justification for the movement.

But for participants who are less familiar with this kind of information, I thought it important to include links to sites that can help explain some of the rationale behind the demands of Occupy Wall Street.

What you can do now

Besides engaging in discussion with those around you, spreading the word, and contributing to the forum, there are some key things you can do.

The need for a forum

En route, some commenters have made legitimate points about why Occupy Wall Street does not need a vision – or at least why protesters do not.

Developing forum (please continue to post to initial blog)

Dear 99,

In order to better develop a vision, there is a poll for users to also use in addition to posting their visions. These subjects may have additional areas in the future. They are meant to help develop a future forum, based on which topics are in the greatest demand. However, please continue to post to the original blog in order to provide a better idea of what topics are of greatest interest. And keep your ideas! They will be necessary for backing up why people have chosen to solve a certain problem (when and if this can be done).

Vision, Anyone?

Dear 99,

I write to you as a fellow, concerned 99. I want a better future. However, I know that without clear vision, goals are harder to achieve, and a haphazard vision will guarantee a haphazard future.
