Is there a need for political spectrum in the O.W.S movement?

In many of the mass media channels, there has been some suggestions and insinuations that this movement is predominantly left-leaning. Within the movement, there have been concerns expressed about it turning into a leftist tea party. While there has been significant resistance to the formation of any political party from within, people not as familiar with the movement might view it as left leaning.

Inherently, there is nothing particularly wrong with a movement having a 'left-leaning' or 'right-leaning' position. But there are some concerns over what effect this has. In the least, whichever way people think it 'leans', there is the reality that those who feel it is generally more what they support will gravitate towards the movement, and those that do not avoid it. Over time, there is a threat of the lean turning into a full-out fall to one side, but the likelihood of that happening soon does not appear to exist.

However, the major concern with being classified or identified as 'leaning' right now is that it can discourage certain individuals from participating in the movement. But the decision to occupy Wall Street and the pretext of this movement is not based on one political side or another being right. There is no difference if you are right or left when, for the most part, you are threatened with the same problems of the other 99% of Americans. It is okay for people throughout the movement to identify themselves wherever on the spectrum. It is not good to believe that the movement has a specific identity and place on the political spectrum because it insinuates that the political values of those who consider themselves farther away on the spectrum have no merit and a smaller say. But the movement was not built on one specific side being right or wrong - just what specific things are wrong in our economic system.

While not specifically orientated to the political spectrum, this author makes a very good argument (similar yet also somewhat different) about how people should view the Occupy Wall Street movement in a more political context. http://www.craigboehman.com/2011/10/myth-of-moderate.html

Regardless, there are some who might disagree, or have other opinions about how the Occupy Wall Street movement relates to the political spectrum. The tendency of this blogger might be to disagree, but it is not only the right of other people to argue their beliefs, in this time it is their responsibility.
